KINGSTON, Jamaica — Dancehall icon Vybz Kartel has made a triumphant return to the music scene with the release of his latest single, The Comet. The track, produced by Vybz Kartel Muzik, the artiste’s own record label, marks his first official release since being freed from prison.

The music video for The Comet premiered on YouTube today, quickly drawing attention from fans eager to witness Kartel’s resurgence. Known for his lyrical prowess and ability to set trends in the dancehall genre, Vybz Kartel’s return is already making waves in the industry.

The artist, born Adidja Palmer, is also preparing for a monumental live performance set for December 31, 2024, in a concert aptly named “Freedom Street.” The event, to be held at Jamaica’s National Stadium, will be Kartel’s first live performance in over 13 years, promising to be a historic moment for both his career and the Jamaican music industry.

Kartel was released from the Tower Street Adult Correctional Facility on July 31, 2024, after the UK’s Privy Council quashed his previous murder conviction and the Court of Appeal ruled against a retrial for him and his co-accused. With his freedom restored, Kartel is wasting no time reconnecting with his fans and reigniting his musical legacy.

As The Comet gains traction and anticipation builds for his year-end concert, Vybz Kartel’s return signals a new chapter for the dancehall superstar.
