Juliet Cuthbert Flynn, Member of Parliament for St Andrew West Rural, launched a scathing critique of Opposition Leader Mark Golding at the Jamaica Labour Party’s (JLP) annual conference, held on Sunday at the National Arena. In her address, Cuthbert Flynn called out what she described as Golding’s elitist and self-serving leadership style, urging Jamaicans to reject him in favor of the current government.

Cuthbert Flynn accused Golding of distancing himself from the struggles of the everyday Jamaican, claiming that his wealth and public persona were disconnected from the reality faced by the people. She suggested that his continuous boasting about his financial success painted a picture of a leader who was out of touch with the average citizen’s needs and concerns.

“The Jamaican people deserve better than a leader who flaunts his riches and treats them like they are beneath him,” Cuthbert Flynn remarked. “Golding is a man who believes in pulling strings behind closed doors, while claiming to have the solution to the nation’s problems.”

She further criticized Golding’s leadership within the People’s National Party (PNP), particularly his close association with figures such as Peter Bunting, accusing them of benefiting from past policies that did not favor the Jamaican people. According to Cuthbert Flynn, the PNP’s leadership, under Golding’s direction, had created policies that ultimately enriched a select few, while leaving the majority behind.

Cuthbert Flynn stressed that Jamaicans should look toward the future and recognize the leadership of Prime Minister Andrew Holness as the country’s best hope for continued progress. “Now is the time to say yes to a leader who works for all Jamaicans, not just the privileged few,” she concluded, reaffirming her support for Holness and the JLP’s vision for the country’s future.
