Corporal Thompson’s commitment to transforming the lives of residents within the St Andrew North Division has been a defining aspect of his career. Following the announcement of his award, he expressed heartfelt appreciation for his divisional management team, acknowledging their pivotal role in his development.

“I am incredibly thankful for the mentorship and support I’ve received. Their guidance has fueled my professional journey,” Thompson stated, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and encouragement in the police force.

He also highlighted the influence of Corporal Jayanne Raymond, last year’s award winner, describing her as an invaluable mentor. “Her belief in my potential has been a source of motivation. She often reminds me that achieving our goals is possible, which inspires me to keep pushing forward,” he noted.

In a conversation with the JCF’s Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), Corporal Thompson shared insights into his proactive approach to tackling crime, particularly among young people. Recognizing the cycle of crime fueled by a lack of opportunities, he spearheaded a skills training and rehabilitation initiative aimed at helping at-risk youth reintegrate into society.

“This initiative is not just about reducing crime; it’s about fostering a sense of belonging and purpose among our youth, paving the way for safer communities,” the announcement stated.

Corporal Thompson extended his message to all officers within the JCF, urging them to view their roles as vital guardians of the community. “We must stand united in our mission to uplift and safeguard our neighborhoods. It is a privilege to serve alongside my fellow officers across the nation,” he asserted.

The recognition was met with praise from Commissioner of Police Dr. Kevin Blake and the JCF, who commended Corporal Thompson and his colleagues for exemplifying the true essence of public service and dedication to the community.
