For Symonia Brown, the journey to her wedding day was filled with memories, dreams, and a touch of serendipity. “I’ve always envisioned a beautiful wedding, especially after so many years together,” she reflects. It was during a drive to St. Mary with her brother that fate intervened. As they passed Carey Island, the scenery captivated her. “We stopped to take a look, and I just knew this was the perfect place,” she recalls, her eyes lighting up with the memory.
On August 10, 2024, surrounded by the soothing melodies of Brian McKnight’s Back at One and Heartland’s I Loved Her First, Symonia took a breathtaking walk across a bridge connecting the lush main grounds of Carey Island to its enchanting private enclave. Accompanied first by her sons, Dante Rhodes and Demetri Harris, and later by her father, Albert Brown, she made her way to her beloved Benjamin Savery—a moment nearly three decades in the making.
“Our love story began over 30 years ago when we were just kids,” Symonia shares. “He was my first love, and even after he moved to Canada and I went to England, we always found a way to stay connected, even when it seemed impossible.” Yet, life had a way of pulling them apart, and they lost touch for many years.
Their reunion came six years ago, setting the stage for their extraordinary second chance. “We met up in Jamaica at Bahia Principe Runaway Bay, and it was like no time had passed,” she says, reminiscing about the spark that reignited their love. “Within a day, he proposed!”
Planning the wedding proved challenging for Symonia, especially since she was based in England. However, determined to create the day of her dreams, she took matters into her own hands. “I turned to Instagram to find local vendors for everything we needed—chairs, tables, decorations. I ordered everything from the UK and arranged to ship it over,” she explains.
The effort paid off spectacularly. Surrounded by 100 close family and friends, the couple exchanged vows in a ceremony that felt like a fairy tale. The festivities continued with a lively reception led by the charismatic MC Tricia Cameron, ensuring everyone celebrated well into the night.
Now, as the Saverys prepare for a cozy honeymoon in Canada amidst the winter snow, they reflect on their incredible journey—a testament to love’s resilience and the beauty of second chances. “I never imagined it would all come together so perfectly,” Symonia beams, cherishing every moment of her unforgettable day.
