On Saturday, September 28, the vibrant atmosphere of Caymanas Park buzzed with excitement as the inaugural Boots, Barrel, and Bourbon event launched the highly anticipated Trail to Mile series. Guests experienced a day filled with exhilarating horse racing while indulging in the rich and robust flavors of CPJ’s premium whiskey, Woodford Reserve. This event marked a thrilling prelude to the prestigious Mouttet Mile, set to take place on December 7, heralding an exhilarating season at the park.

The culinary delights for the day were expertly crafted by Broken Plate restaurant, which presented a tantalizing array of dishes designed to complement the distinct character of Woodford Reserve Bourbon. Attendees were treated to a culinary journey that married the spirited essence of Jamaica’s food culture with the refined sophistication of Kentucky’s celebrated bourbon.

Natesha Powell, CPJ’s spirits and beverages brand manager, expressed her excitement for the occasion: “The Mouttet Mile symbolizes elegance and legacy, and we aimed to launch the ‘Trail to the Mile’ series in a manner that embodies this spirit. With the remarkable catering by Broken Plate and the spotlight on Woodford Reserve, we’ve created a dynamic atmosphere that sets the stage for the upcoming festivities.”

This year, the Woodford Reserve special release pays tribute to a monumental moment in sports history—the 50th anniversary of Secretariat’s unforgettable 1973 Kentucky Derby victory. Known for its record-breaking time of 1:59 2/5, this commemorative bourbon serves as a fitting highlight for the Boots, Barrel, and Bourbon event, celebrating both racing and craftsmanship in the world of spirits.

With such an electrifying start to the Trail to Mile series, anticipation builds for the Mouttet Mile and the exciting events to follow at Caymanas Park.
