In a show of mutual respect and strategic alignment, senior executives from Digicel Jamaica paid a high-level visit to two of Jamaica’s most acclaimed hospitality landmarks—S Hotel in Kingston and the eco-luxury retreat, Sunset at the Palms in Negril. The visit comes on the heels of global accolades earned by both properties, solidifying their standing as standard-bearers for hospitality excellence in the Caribbean.
The Digicel delegation was led by CEO Stephen Murad, accompanied by Tashima Walker, general manager for Digicel Business, and Joy Clark, head of stakeholder engagement and chairperson of the Digicel Foundation. Their stopover was more than ceremonial—it served as a purposeful dialogue between two influential forces in Jamaican industry.
Christopher Issa, the visionary behind both properties, hosted the delegation alongside his son, Thomas Issa, group manager. The sessions went beyond formalities, delving into the philosophies that anchor both enterprises: people-centred leadership, a commitment to long-haul excellence, and an emphasis on values over optics.
Discussions explored the foundational stories of both brands—from the resilience needed to build from scratch, to the discipline required to maintain service integrity in a demanding global market. The conversation extended into broader themes around legacy, national identity, and the responsibilities of leadership in shaping both business outcomes and cultural narratives.
For Digicel, whose technology backbone has supported these hotels for over a decade, the visit reinforced a long-standing relationship rooted not just in service delivery but in strategic enablement. Reliable telecommunications have played a quiet but critical role in the seamless guest experiences for which these properties are known.
This wasn’t just a visit. It was a reaffirmation of a decade-long partnership where connectivity meets consistency, and shared values power vision. As Jamaica’s hospitality and telecom sectors continue to evolve, relationships like this signal a blueprint for what alignment between infrastructure and experience can truly accomplish.
