ST CATHERINE, Jamaica — A young labourer from West End in Gordon Pen has been formally charged in connection with a firearm-related incident that unfolded during a community sporting event earlier this year.
Twenty-one-year-old Falcon Gayle now faces multiple charges under the Firearms Act, including assault at common law and unlawful possession of a prohibited weapon.
Law enforcement sources revealed that the incident occurred around midday during a local sports gathering, where a heated dispute erupted between a male and a female attendee. Gayle reportedly left the scene amid the altercation, only to return moments later armed with a firearm.
He is alleged to have discharged the weapon in the direction of the male individual, who managed to flee unharmed. Gayle then allegedly turned the weapon on the female, issuing threats while pointing the firearm at her.
An investigation was launched, and Gayle was apprehended during a targeted police operation earlier this week. Following an official interview conducted in the presence of legal counsel, he was charged.
Gayle is scheduled to appear before the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday, July 25, where the case is expected to begin its initial proceedings.
