The highly anticipated third Twenty20 International (T20I) clash between England and Australia at Old Trafford faced delays due to persistent rain on Sunday.

Originally scheduled to start at 2:30 pm local time (1330 GMT), the match was postponed as heavy rainfall in Manchester caused significant delays. The rain, which began earlier in the morning, left the pitch and surrounding areas covered in deep puddles, making it impossible for the toss and the match to proceed as planned.

The latest update indicates that the official cut-off time for a reduced five-over-per-side match, necessary to achieve a result, is 5:46 pm (1646 GMT). This means that if conditions do not improve by then, the match may not be played.

The series stands at 1-1, adding to the tension and anticipation. England secured a win in the second T20I in Cardiff on Friday, thanks to a stellar performance by all-rounder Liam Livingstone, who scored 87 runs. This followed Australia’s 28-run victory in the opening match in Southampton.

Following the conclusion of this T20I series, England will turn their attention to a five-match One-Day International (ODI) series against Australia, starting on Thursday at Nottingham’s Trent Bridge.
