Kingston’s storied Sabina Park will sparkle under fresh LED floodlights this Saturday when the West Indies begin their first home day-night Test against Australia. Sport Minister Olivia Grange confirmed that Cricket West Indies’ independent lighting specialist has signed off on the new system after final calibration and focus checks, clearing the ground for play to stretch seamlessly into the evening.
A pair of revamped digital scoreboards will complement the illumination. The main jumbo panel is already live; technicians are loading software on the secondary board and expect it to be fully operational well ahead of the opening ball.
With infrastructure boxes ticked, Minister Grange issued a rallying cry to local supporters: “The stage is set—now let’s pack the stands and turn Sabina Park into a sea of maroon. This is cricket history in the making.”
All systems go, all eyes on Kingston.
