KINGSTON, Jamaica — Restaurant Associates Limited (RAL), the franchisee of Burger King Jamaica, has provided an update on the explosion that occurred at their New Kingston outlet on Wednesday. The company has been actively communicating with the medical teams attending to the injured employees to ensure they receive the highest level of care. RAL is also prepared to facilitate any necessary medical transfers for advanced treatment, both locally and internationally, if required.

According to RAL, all three employees who sustained visible injuries are currently in stable condition. The company reported that one employee was discharged on Wednesday afternoon after receiving treatment, while two others who sustained burns were hospitalized overnight at Kingston Public Hospital (KPH). On Thursday evening, one of these employees was transferred to the Tony Thwaites Wing at the University of the West Indies for further care.

In a statement released on Friday, RAL expressed deep gratitude for the public’s outpouring of support, well wishes, and concern for the victims and their families. “Your compassion and encouragement mean a lot to the entire RAL and Burger King Jamaica family,” the company said.

RAL also extended its heartfelt thanks to the first responders who arrived swiftly at the scene and acted with professionalism and urgency. The company acknowledged the brave members of the public who assisted in caring for the injured and transporting them to the hospital. “Your quick actions made the difference,” RAL noted.

The company expressed a desire to meet with the good Samaritan who promptly transported the injured employee to the nearest hospital, emphasizing their intention to show appreciation for this critical assistance.

In addition to addressing the physical well-being of the affected employees, RAL is committed to their emotional support. Professional counseling services have been arranged for those directly involved in the incident, as well as for any staff who may have been emotionally impacted.

RAL reiterated its commitment to collaborating with relevant authorities and service providers to investigate the incident thoroughly and to implement any additional measures necessary to prevent future occurrences. “Our goal is to ensure that the highest safety standards are enforced across all locations,” the company emphasized.

The explosion at the Burger King New Kingston outlet, which reportedly resulted from a gas leak, injured six staff members. Of these, three showed visible signs of injury, but there have been no fatalities.
