Determined to tackle crime at its roots, National Commercial Bank (NCB) has pledged $7.5 million towards expanding community-driven crime prevention efforts through Crime Stop Jamaica.
This renewed commitment signals a deeper shift: from chasing criminals after the fact, to empowering Jamaicans to help stop crime before it happens.
Over nearly two decades of partnership, NCB has steadily invested in Crime Stop’s mission, helping fund an anonymous tip system that has quietly disrupted criminal networks, recovered millions in stolen goods, and protected everyday citizens who choose to speak up.
“Crime prevention isn’t just a job for the police — it’s a responsibility we all share,” said Sandra Glasgow, Chair of Crime Stop Jamaica. “Support like this allows us to stay a step ahead, using community intelligence to break cycles of crime before they spiral.”
Since its inception, Crime Stop has received thousands of anonymous tips leading to arrests, property recoveries, and the dismantling of organized crime rings. The results speak for themselves: more than 33,000 cases impacted and nearly $336 million in property recovered.
Denver Frater, NCB’s Chief Security Officer, emphasized that private sector leadership is essential in securing Jamaica’s future. “Crime undermines trust, investment, and opportunity. It’s not someone else’s problem — it’s ours,” he said. “Backing initiatives like Crime Stop is one way we can all take ownership of creating safer communities.”
Frater called on other businesses to step up, noting that collective action is key to driving lasting change.
At its core, NCB’s latest investment is about more than dollars — it’s about belief: belief in Jamaica’s people, in the power of shared responsibility, and in the idea that a safer society starts with everyday acts of courage, backed by institutions willing to listen and act.
Crime Stop remains a confidential lifeline for citizens who witness wrongdoing but fear retribution. By protecting anonymity, the programme ensures that no voice goes unheard in the fight against crime.
As NCB doubles down on its support, Crime Stop’s message to the public remains clear: If you see something, say something — safely, securely, and without fear.
