In a recent statement, renowned music executive Ferdy Unger-Hamilton has put an end to rumors swirling around reggae sensation Koffee’s record label status. Unger-Hamilton, known for his influential roles in the UK music scene—including a high-profile tenure as president at Columbia Records UK—clarified that Koffee has always been under contract with Promised Land Records.

Addressing widespread online speculation, Unger-Hamilton emphasized, “Koffee has consistently been signed with Promised Land Records. Our previous distribution arrangement with Sony concluded over two years ago, and we are now distributed through Virgin.” The veteran executive highlighted that Koffee was never directly affiliated with RCA or Columbia Records, countering any misinformation regarding her being dropped.

Koffee, who burst onto the scene with her debut single “Burning” in 2017 and made history with her Grammy-winning performance in 2020, released both her breakthrough project, the 2019 Rapture EP, and her full-length album Gifted through Promised Land Records. The label, which is owned by Unger-Hamilton, continues to be the home for the reggae artist’s innovative sound.

Reflecting on his extensive career, Unger-Hamilton recalled his successful stints at Island Records and Polydor—where he worked with a range of British stars such as Ellie Goulding, Lana Del Rey, and The 1975—before his notable tenure at Columbia Records UK, during which he helped shape the careers of Robbie Williams, Rag’n’Bone Man, and George Ezra.

When asked about Koffee’s upcoming projects, Unger-Hamilton hinted at exciting new music on the horizon, adding, “New music is coming very soon.” Hailing from Spanish Town, St Catherine, Koffee, whose real name is Mikayla Victoria Simpson, has quickly established herself as a trailblazer in the reggae genre, combining youthful energy with groundbreaking artistry.

With these clarifications, industry insiders and fans alike can rest assured that Koffee’s creative journey continues firmly under the guidance of Promised Land Records, as she readies to share the next chapter of her musical evolution.
