Kingston, Jamaica — In a match charged with intensity at Sabina Park, the Jamaica Scorpions have begun their batting with no loss at the close of the lunch session. They are cautiously approaching the challenge posed by the Guyana Harpy Eagles’ first-innings total of 339 runs.

The Eagles, who resumed play from an overnight stand of 260 for 5, experienced a dramatic turnaround in the morning session, losing five wickets for a modest addition of 79 runs. Among the standout performers was Kevlon Anderson, who, after an earlier retirement hurt at an even hundred, made a determined return to score 116 before falling to a sharp catch by wicketkeeper Aldaine Thomas, off the bowling of pacer Odean Smith.

In a display of attacking batting, opener Matthew Nandu contributed 61 runs, while Kemol Savory added 48, supporting the Eagles’ efforts in a match that has been defined by its fluctuating fortunes.

On the bowling front, Odean Smith emerged as a pivotal force for the Harpy Eagles. He recorded career-best figures of 5 for 68 – his first five-wicket haul in four-day cricket – as he led a disciplined bowling attack. Captain Marquino Mindley, maintaining tight control, picked up 2 for 36, and wrist spinner Tamarie Redwood claimed 2 for 109.

With both sides displaying moments of brilliance and resilience, the contest promises more excitement as the Scorpions look to build on their early momentum in pursuit of a challenging target.
