Canopy Insurance Limited has taken a bold step in corporate social responsibility by backing a nationwide child safety campaign in partnership with Hear The Children’s Cry (HTCC), a leading child advocacy organization.
The initiative aims to raise awareness about child protection and family safety, encouraging Jamaican businesses to take a more active role in community welfare. Through this collaboration, Canopy Insurance is helping to fund essential programs that support vulnerable children and families across the island.
A Corporate Commitment to Child Welfare
Speaking on the initiative, Oliver Tomlinson, CEO of Canopy Insurance, emphasized the company’s dedication to making a difference beyond the business sector.
“Protecting our children is a collective responsibility, and at Canopy, we are honored to support Hear The Children’s Cry in their mission. Every child deserves a safe and secure environment to grow, and we urge other businesses to step forward in supporting this cause,” said Tomlinson.
The partnership will see Canopy Insurance assisting HTCC in funding critical services, including missing children support programs, family counseling, and school safety workshops.
A Vision for a Safer Future
HTCC, founded in 2002 by the late Betty Ann Blaine, has been a lifeline for many families in crisis. Director Nigel Cooper praised Canopy Insurance for recognizing the urgent need for sustainable corporate partnerships in child advocacy.
“This initiative is more than just a campaign—it’s a call to action for Jamaica. Thanks to Canopy’s support, we can expand our programs and continue offering the services that so many children depend on,” Cooper stated.
Beyond this initiative, Canopy Insurance has a strong record of corporate social responsibility, with past projects including:
- Revamping classrooms at the Salvation Army School for the Blind
- Sponsoring youth sports through the Jamaica Independent Schools Association
- Providing gifts and essential items to children’s homes during the Christmas season
With corporate Jamaica playing an increasingly vital role in social development, Canopy Insurance’s initiative signals a shift towards businesses taking an active role in shaping a safer, more supportive society for Jamaica’s children.
