The Reggae Boyz will face off against Trinidad and Tobago in a pair of friendly matches in February, marking an important step in their preparations for upcoming international competitions. The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) confirmed that the two teams will meet on February 6 and 9, with the first match scheduled for 7:30 pm at the Montego Bay Sports Complex and the second at 8:00 pm at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex in Kingston.
These friendly fixtures serve as vital preparation for the CONCACAF Gold Cup preliminaries in March, where Jamaica will battle St. Vincent and the Grenadines for a spot in the tournament’s group stages, while Trinidad and Tobago will take on Cuba.
JFF President Michael Ricketts emphasized the significance of these encounters. “Our Head Coach, Mr. McClaren, has long expressed the need to assess the domestic players in action, and these games provide the perfect platform for that,” said Ricketts. “This is the third consecutive year we’ve kicked off with matches against Trinidad, and each year has provided valuable insights for our preparation. Last year’s games helped us refine our strategies for both the Gold Cup and Nations League, and this year will be no different, as we fine-tune our plans ahead of the World Cup Qualifiers, which resume in June.”
These friendlies are set to provide the Reggae Boyz with crucial match experience and a chance to further solidify their squad ahead of the important fixtures that lie ahead.
