In response to a recent increase in criminal activities and gang operations, authorities have instituted a nightly curfew in the typically serene Albion Mountain area of St Mary, effective immediately and set to remain until January 9.
Acting Superintendent of Police Anthony Wallace, overseeing the St Mary region, highlighted the gravity of the situation to Observer Online. He cited several incidents, including an arson case and the discovery of a 9mm Ruger pistol in December. Additionally, an unreported shooting and other gang-related events have heightened concerns among law enforcement officials.
Superintendent Wallace emphasized the importance of community cooperation, urging residents to adhere strictly to the curfew and follow directives issued by police personnel actively managing the situation on the ground. “We are committed to conducting our operations with the utmost respect for human rights,” Wallace assured the public.
The curfew, which commenced on Tuesday evening, targets specific locations within Albion Mountain. Areas under restriction include a segment of Top Mountain near Albion Mountain Square, the main roads of Trinity Land and Cox Street, as well as Roslyn Road. The enforced quiet hours will be in effect from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM each night.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities to help restore peace and safety to the community.
