The festive season in the Cayman Islands took a heartbreaking turn as a car crash claimed the life of 26-year-old Romario Jacquet, a Jamaican national from Rockfort, East Kingston. The accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday morning, leaving three others hospitalized with severe injuries.

Jacquet was driving a Subaru sedan when the vehicle veered off course, resulting in the deadly crash. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, transporting the injured passengers to nearby hospitals for urgent care.

Cayman Islands Police Commissioner Kurt Walton shared his condolences, highlighting the emotional toll on Jacquet’s family and the wider community. “This is a stark reminder of the fragility of life,” Walton remarked.

The incident marks the third road fatality in December, pushing the 2024 road death toll in the Cayman Islands to 13. Authorities are urging drivers to remain cautious as investigations continue.
