RED HILLS, ST ANDREW — A man linked to a string of violent crimes was shot and killed in a confrontation with law enforcement officers during an early morning security operation in the Golden Acres community.
Police confirm the deceased is Kevin Rouldson, 40, known on the streets as Bingie. He was reportedly affiliated with a notorious criminal network based in the Kingston 11 corridor and had been on the police radar for some time.
According to investigators, the incident unfolded during an intelligence-driven crackdown aimed at dismantling criminal elements operating in the area. Officers say they were met with gunfire upon approaching a location of interest. In the exchange that followed, Rouldson was fatally wounded.
A 9mm pistol was recovered from the scene.
Authorities say Rouldson was wanted for questioning in multiple investigations, including murders, firearm-related offences, and a series of auto thefts across Waltham Park and Cockburn Pen. Police intelligence had tied him to several high-profile incidents that had triggered community concern and surveillance escalation in recent months.
No officers were injured in the operation. The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is expected to probe the matter, as is customary in police-involved shootings.
Investigations are ongoing.
