Bushy Park, Clarendon — A routine disagreement reportedly spiraled into violence on Friday afternoon, leaving one man nursing injuries and another facing a string of serious criminal charges.
Police have charged 44-year-old David Morris, a businessman from Central Avenue in Bushy Park, with assault at common law, use of a firearm to commit a felony, assault occasioning bodily harm, and malicious destruction of property.
Investigators say the confrontation unfolded around 1:30 p.m., when Morris and another man became embroiled in a heated exchange. What began as an argument allegedly turned physical — the victim’s shirt was torn during the scuffle — before Morris reportedly drew his licensed firearm and aimed it at the man while uttering threats.
The incident was later reported to the police, who launched an investigation that resulted in Morris’s arrest.
Law enforcement officials have confirmed that charges have been laid, though a court date has not yet been scheduled. The matter remains under investigation as authorities assess the circumstances surrounding the use of the weapon and the extent of the victim’s injuries.
