MANDEVILLE, Jamaica – A powerful swing for a powerful cause. The Rotary Club of Mandeville is charting new territory with its debut Charity Golf Tournament scheduled for August 24, bringing purpose to the putting green.
But this isn’t just another sporting event. Behind the elegance of the fairways lies a determined mission: to install life-saving Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) across Manchester—targeting schools, public zones, and communities with limited emergency access.
Safeguarding the Heart of Manchester
For over six decades, the Rotary Club of Mandeville has operated as a silent engine of service—providing scholarships, community aid, and disaster response. This time, the club is placing public health at the center of its latest initiative.
“This isn’t about sport; it’s about survival,” a spokesperson for the club remarked. “We want to ensure that in the event of sudden cardiac arrest, no one is more than a few steps away from an AED.”
The initiative also includes community training, ensuring that ordinary citizens—from school staff to business owners—are equipped with the knowledge to respond when seconds count.
Business and Community Ties Strengthened
Local organizations and residents are being invited not just to attend but to partner with purpose. Sponsorship packages, team registrations, and direct contributions all play a role in placing more AEDs in high-risk areas.
For the Rotary Club, this event is as much about raising awareness as it is about raising funds. It marks a bold step in creating a cardiac-safe zone across Manchester, a region where emergency response times can be the difference between life and death.
As August 24 draws near, the call to action is clear: swing a club, save a life.
