Jamaica’s philanthropic spirit made headlines in Miami last weekend as Elias and Paul Issa were celebrated for their longstanding community contributions. The recognition came during the American Friends of Jamaica (AFJ) annual gala held at the Loews Coral Gables Hotel.

The evening, which gathered prominent figures from across the Caribbean and American diaspora, featured Prime Minister Andrew Holness as the keynote speaker. Holness praised the Issa brothers for their commitment to initiatives that have strengthened social programs and supported underserved communities over the years.

The AFJ gala, a fixture on the charity calendar, continues to showcase individuals whose work leaves a tangible mark both in Jamaica and abroad. This year’s tribute to the Issa brothers served as a reminder of how private citizens can drive national transformation through steady, meaningful action.
