At the National Stadium during the 115th ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships, St. Elizabeth Technical’s Anastasia Richards delivered an outstanding performance in the girls’ Class Four long jump event. Richards, representing Kingston, reached a personal milestone by clearing 5.49m, marking a significant improvement in her athletic career.

Richards took command of the competition from her very first jump and maintained her lead with two additional attempts—recording 5.27m and 5.30m respectively—that would have been enough to secure victory on their own. Her consistent display of skill and precision set a high standard for the day’s contest.

In a closely fought battle, Edwin Allen’s Kemoya Campbell secured the runner-up spot with a 5.21m leap. The contest for the bronze medal was particularly intense, with Immaculate Conception High’s Sanique Watt edging out Alphansus Davis High’s Jessica Francis by a narrow margin. Watt’s second-best jump of 5.16m ultimately clinched the bronze, underscoring the razor-thin margins that often separate the top athletes.

This remarkable event highlighted not only Richards’ impressive personal best but also the fierce competitive spirit and high standards maintained throughout the championships.
