Authorities in Kingston have taken a significant step in curbing drug trafficking with the arrest of a British man and woman at the Norman Manley International Airport. The pair, whose identities remain confidential as investigations continue, were detained by the Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division during security protocols on a British Airways flight to London.

According to sources, routine security interviews raised concerns when both individuals exhibited suspicious behavior. A closer inspection of the man’s luggage uncovered hidden compartments concealing a substantial quantity of cocaine. In a parallel search, authorities found additional packets stashed in the lining of the woman’s baggage.

Early estimates place the street value of the seized drugs at approximately JM$92.7 million, signaling one of the largest cocaine smuggling cases handled at the airport in recent times. Both suspects have been formally processed and are now facing intense scrutiny as investigators piece together further details of the operation.

The case underscores ongoing efforts by Jamaican law enforcement to dismantle international drug trafficking networks and enhance airport security measures.
