In light of the recent declaration of a State of Public Emergency (SOE) in St Catherine South, the Court Administration Division (CAD) has announced the suspension of court hearings scheduled for Thursday at the Spanish Town and Old Harbour courts.

This decision comes in response to the growing concerns over violent crime in the area, further intensified by the recent fatal shooting of Othneil Lobban, known as “Thickman,” a prominent figure linked to the One Order Gang. The incident occurred late Wednesday evening at Six Miles, St Andrew.

CAD emphasized that the safety of those involved in the court process is of utmost importance. “We remain committed to continuing the delivery of justice while prioritizing the protection of all individuals in the affected region,” the division said in a statement.

Individuals with upcoming court dates in the impacted areas are urged to contact the courts directly or reach the CAD for further guidance at 876-586-9783. Additionally, the CAD has promised to provide updated schedules for rescheduled matters in due course.

“We appreciate the public’s cooperation and patience during this time of uncertainty and will continue to take the necessary measures to ensure a safe environment for all involved,” the CAD added.
