In a landmark move for Westchester Soccer Club, Jamaican international Kemar ‘Taxi’ Lawrence has been announced as the club’s first-ever signing ahead of its inaugural 2025 season in USL League One.

The 32-year-old left-back, known for his time with the New York Red Bulls and most recently UTA Arad in Romania, joins the New York-based team as they prepare for their debut campaign. The club, which will be based in Mt Vernon, officially introduced Lawrence as a pivotal player for the future during a special announcement.

Lawrence, a product of Jamaica’s Harbour View FC, brings a wealth of experience to the club, having played over 185 matches in Major League Soccer (MLS) and represented Jamaica 77 times at the senior level. His career began with the Jamaican Under-17 team, and his contributions have been felt both internationally and domestically.

Club officials are eager for Lawrence to become a key figure not only on the field but also in the community, with hopes that his leadership and experience will inspire the team during their first season. The team’s opening match at Memorial Field in Mt Vernon is scheduled for April, with approval from the league and federation still pending.

Westchester Soccer Club is confident that Lawrence’s addition will lay a strong foundation for the team’s future success and growth.
