Friday night at the National Stadium was a showcase of grit and precision as Kingston College emerged victorious in the ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup final, defeating first-time contenders St. Catherine High 3-1.

The match cemented Kingston College’s legacy, marking their 17th Manning Cup title and their third triumph in six seasons. Under the guidance of coach Vassell Reynolds, the team showcased the discipline and flair that has become synonymous with their football program. Reynolds, already a celebrated name in Jamaican schoolboy football, added another accolade to his résumé, joining an elite group of coaches who have won both the Manning Cup and daCosta Cup titles.

The Kingston College team wasted no time asserting dominance, with Jaeshawn Edwards breaking the deadlock in the 36th minute after finding space to nod home a precise cross. Momentum remained with the ‘Purples’ as Demario Dailey capitalized on a right-side delivery to double the lead just before halftime. St. Catherine High’s defense struggled to contain the relentless attacks, and Deshawn Byfield further widened the gap with a goal in the 54th minute.

Although St. Catherine High pulled one back through an own goal in the 62nd minute, it was a case of too little, too late. The debut finalists, coached by Anthony Patrick, showed moments of promise but could not overcome the seasoned Kingston College side.

This final marked another heartbreaking chapter for Patrick, who has now endured four Manning Cup losses, including back-to-back defeats with Bridgeport High in previous seasons.

As the final whistle blew, Kingston College celebrated yet another championship, reaffirming their place at the pinnacle of Jamaican schoolboy football while leaving fans wondering if their reign will continue in the seasons to come.
