In preparation for the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Annual Conference at the National Arena this Sunday, the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) has outlined important traffic changes to ensure the safety and flow of attendees.

Traffic Changes Beginning at 9:00 AM: Arthur Wint Drive will temporarily become a one-way route heading east towards the National Stadium. Motorists coming from this direction will be directed to turn left onto Roosevelt Avenue, right onto Stanton Terrace, followed by right turns onto Mountain View Avenue and Arthur Wint Drive, leading to the designated parking lot. Only vehicles with VIP access will be allowed on Roosevelt Avenue heading towards the stadium, and only conference attendees will be permitted to access Arthur Wint Drive from Mountain View Avenue.

In addition, traffic will be restricted along Arthur Wint Drive between Gates E4 and the Bob Marley Statue, with this area designated as a pedestrian-only zone. Local residents of Mountain View Avenue can access The Lofts Apartments via Arthur Wint Drive, while residents of Stadium Gardens will have limited access in the eastbound direction only.

The JCF emphasizes that vehicles parked illegally will be towed, and attendees are encouraged to park in the direction of the post-event traffic flow for a smoother departure.

After the Event:

  • Arthur Wint Drive will change to a one-way route heading west from Gate E4 to Tom Redcam Avenue.
  • Roosevelt Avenue will revert to its regular traffic direction.
  • Arthur Wint Drive will remain one-way eastbound from Gate E5 to Mountain View Avenue.

Motorists traveling on North and Central Avenues will only be allowed to turn right onto Arthur Wint Drive. Emergency vehicles will be granted access to these roads for necessary services at the Bustamante Children’s Hospital.

For approximately 45 minutes after the conference, residents of Stadium Gardens will be allowed to exit via Arthur Wint Drive but will not be permitted to re-enter during this time. Additionally, Latham Avenue will operate one-way towards Old Hope Road.

All conference attendees, including pedestrians and drivers, are advised to cooperate with police and security personnel to ensure a smooth and orderly event.
