In a season full of surprises, Ocho Rios High has made its mark by becoming the first-ever team from St Ann to reach the semifinals of the ISSA/Wata daCosta Cup. The underdogs will face McGrath High in a thrilling semifinal matchup on November 30, aiming for a chance to secure a spot in the final.

Ocho Rios made history this weekend with a stunning 2-0 victory over Garvey Maceo High, topping Group B with an impressive five points. Robert Morris and Keanu Reid delivered key performances, with Morris scoring in the 31st minute and Reid sealing the win in the 75th. This result was particularly significant for Ocho Rios, who had drawn their previous two matches in the group stage, showing resilience in their campaign.

McGrath High, a semifinalist in 2019, advanced from Group A as runners-up, edging past STETHS on goal difference. Their 4-0 demolition of Frome Technical helped secure their place in the final four, despite a loss earlier in the week to Group A leaders Glenmuir High. The dramatic day saw Glenmuir’s strong 5-2 victory over STETHS give McGrath the edge, with a superior goal difference of one.

The semifinals will also feature a clash between Group A’s top team, Glenmuir High, and Garvey Maceo. Glenmuir’s star player, Orane Watson, continued his remarkable season with a brace, pushing his goal tally to 31 for the year. With plenty of talent on display, the race for the daCosta Cup crown is more open than ever.

Ocho Rios High’s entry into the semifinal is a testament to their grit and determination, and they will look to continue defying the odds as they face McGrath in what promises to be an electrifying match.
