Paul Pogba’s time at Juventus may be nearing an end as the club’s sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli, indicated the squad is fully set ahead of the midfielder’s impending return from a doping suspension.

Pogba, who had his four-year ban reduced to 18 months by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, is expected to be available to play again in March. However, Giuntoli’s comments suggest there may not be a place for the 31-year-old in the team going forward.

“Our position is straightforward,” Giuntoli explained in an interview with DAZN prior to Saturday’s match against Lazio. “While Paul has a remarkable history with us, his absence from the game has been extensive. We have invested in other players, and our roster is currently complete.”

In a recent interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport, which was not sanctioned by Juventus, Pogba expressed his willingness to stay with the team, even if it meant accepting a drastically reduced salary. Since his suspension began in September of last year, his earnings have plummeted to just over 2,000 euros ($2,166) monthly.

Despite his contract running until June 2026 and reportedly worth eight million euros a year, plus potential bonuses of up to two million euros, the Italian media has speculated that Juventus is exploring ways to terminate Pogba’s contract as they restructure the squad under new coach Thiago Motta.

Currently, Juventus is facing financial challenges, having posted nearly 200 million euros in losses last season, and they began their game against Lazio sitting fourth in Serie A, three points behind the leaders, Napoli.
